About
Hello!
I am Monika Petroczy, Artisan, daughter of Hungarian immigrants. I started my agency MoniDesign in 1999. I have teamed up with other creatives and collaborated on many great projects.
My Work: I’ve created and built numerous web sites and web site facelifts, managed countless map and information graphics projects, and have been involved in every aspect from planning, design, layout, client interaction, final preparation for printing to launching numerous graphic design and art projects. It is my craft to take technical information and make it beautiful and presentable, and to communicate effectively.
I discovered my passion for cartography while at UC Santa Barbara studying earth sciences for my geography degree. I started as a cartographer at maps.com in 1996, back in the days of Aldus Freehand and pizza box Macs. Within a few months, I was teaching my colleagues methods I had discovered and began managing projects. As I upgraded my graphic design and artistic skills at work and through extension courses, I sought to upgrade and present map information as aesthetically as possible. I realized that I loves graphic design and brought that to all of my projects.
I later worked with CHK America and created a large body of Transit maps and passenger information graphics. I refined my mapping and layout skills, managed projects and interacted with clients.
As the world of mapping was transformed from print to digital, I took on website design teaming up with Fritz Creative, Digital Orange Studios, and Phi Web Studio on web design projects. I also worked with Mark Oliver Inc. in package design,
I work with individual clients creating WordPress – based web sites, branding, email marketing, social media marketing, brochures, and occasionally winery maps.
I have created several print on demand e-commerce stores, creating leggings, shirts, active apparel and a variety of swag.
I have combined all of my experience into a skill sets that had me be the marketing director for a large event…everything from the website and social media calendar to the apparel, swag, discs, and working with sponsors.
Needless to say I am very proficient and comfortable in Adobe CS as an extension of my body, And thanks to Jen Swain, I have taken on mural painting, a project that starts digital, and ends with brushes and paints.
In 2018, I created and painted 15 utility box murals, some with local kids art, mostly original artwork in Ventura, Glendale, Harbor City and San Pedro, CA.
I am artist, hiker, beach ultimate player, gardener, organizer, and cat lady.
